Nomadic Backpacker Travel Blog

Travel Blog focusing mainly on logistics: visas, border crossings, obscure countries, republics and micronations, hostel reviews.

Built from the ground up. A newer all responsive theme, pages built using blog style pages
, which load and get indexed far quicker. And the major step was to upgrade.

Gone is the dot weebly dot com sub-domain.

For the same cost of 2 coffees, I get a months subscription which gives me the opportunity to purchase my own domain. This blog has become https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com

This blog began life as the now defunct, white monkey travels. It was my first foray into blogging. I did everything wrong. Too much coding which slowed page loading speed to a crawl, HTML edits got corrupted, my site was hacked and became a target for spam hits.

It was, due to the coding, a major time suck. Everything required an insane amount of time. Just to produce a single new post. And every time I had a new idea, I'd have to manually edit, every paragraph on every one of my 200+pages.

I manually indexed everything, hoping to keep control of the blog but then it got too much. The passion to keep it up dwindled, the spam hits were disheartening beyond belief. I took it off line.

This post is actually a 'strategic post'. A what?  Yep, it's a 'strategic post'. In the absence of an ABOUT page, it's my way to get Nomadic Backpacker into and onto Google. I did a review of the Emir Guest House in Jeti-Ögüz just 8 days ago. It was indexed straight away. I up graded to my own domain just 2 days ago and the Emir Guest House Review post is on page one of Google, already listed under https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com and no longer under https://nomadicbackpacker.weebly.com. This is a major improvement from my old site which would in the early days takes 2 months to appear on the search results.

My strategy:

  1.  Alt text or alternate text is an attribute added to an image tag in HTML. It helps search engines understand what an image is about.

  2.  Renaming uploaded images: Instead of uploading an image, DSCN 00008383, for example,  rename it to Tower Bridge London and then upload it.

  3.  Word placement: Instead of making the title of this post, Welcome to Nomadic Backpacker, I made it, Nomadic Backpacker. Welcome to my new travel blog. Nomadic Backpacker is to the fore and it includes a description within the first 10 words. It's a travel blog. General summarisation.

  4.  Description: Nomadic Backpacker. Travel Blog focusing mainly on logistics: visas, border crossings, obscure countries, republics and micro nations, hostel reviews. This is what would normally go in the websites main SEO. But with the speed my pages are getting indexed, why not have a page entitled Nomadic Backpacker. Recipe for success,
