England to France - Dover to Calais - 1983
I made this trip with the school. I was studying French and we were let loose in Calais to practice our language skills.

Thailand to Malaysia - Satun to Perlis - 2001
I had spent the night in Satun, Thailand, taken a bus to the Tammalang Pier and then a tiny boat with a Yamaha engine to Kuala Perlis in Malaysia, and then a bus to Kangar.

Greece to Turkey - Samos to Kusadasi - 2002
After Wintering in Grindelwald, I had gone off to explore Greece. I wandered aimlessly for 3 months before taking a ferry from Samos to Kusadasi.

Jordan to Egypt - 2010
This was a great adventure. I had left Eilat, crossed into Jordan at the Yitzhak Rabin Border, a bus to Aqaba, a taxi to the port only to be told that I could only get the ticket in town, so another taxi back to the ferry office and I had the guy wait for me and then back to the port before the ferry to Nuweibaa and a shared taxi with other travellers to Dahab.
This was a great adventure. Egypt to Sudan - Aswan to Wadi Halfa - 2015
This was a truly memorable trip. I secured the Sudan visa in Aswan and then waited for the boat that travelled down Lake Nassar to Wadi Halfa. Classic backpacking. This is what makes me a traveller!

This was classic. The route was always getting withdrawn, sometimes for years at a time until UkrFerry reintroduced it. So I was happy that I could do it.
