This copy was donated to the city of Mexico in 1980 by its Spanish community of residents, with the consent and support of the excellent city council and residents of Madrid.
Being one of the most representative monuments of that city, it stands today as a symbol of brotherhood between both communities.
The fountain represents the Roman goddess Cybele, a symbol of the earth, agriculture and fertility, on a chariot pulled by two lions, Hippomenes and Atalanta.
