How to get to Zipolite from Oaxaca - Mexico

All the details for travelling from Oaxaca to Zipolite and back again.
It is 250km from Oaxaca to Zipolite. The road winds its way through and over the mountains. The trip takes about 7 hours.
The closest Airport to Zipolite, Mexico, is Huatulco. I have flown that route 4 times now, and you can read about how to get from Huatulco Airport to Zipolite here.
Two companies do the journey. Eclipse 70 and Líneas Unidas:
From Oaxaca to Zipolite I paid 300MXN using Eclipse 70.
From Zipolite to Oaxaca City I paid 290 MXN using Líneas Unidas. The 2022 price is 300MXN
Both companies stop at the 125 km point for a 15-minute break.
The schedule varies. When I went to Zipolite, only Eclipse 70 was doing a daily run. Líneas Unidas was doing just 4 days a week, but coming back, both were running every day. Check with the ticket office for current times.
They both do the trip about 5 or 6 times a day, or you could use the more frequent service to and from Pochutla, 10km from Zipolite.
The ride over the mountains is pretty chilly, so take a sweater. If you are prone to travel sickness, best you fly in from MEXICO CITY. The closest airport to Zipolite is the Bahias De Huatulco International Airport.
