The Kamares Aqueduct, just a 40-minute walk from the centre of Larnaca, can be an interesting thing to do during your stay in Cyprus.
Construction of the Kamares Aqueduct, also known as the Bekir Pasha Aqueduct, started in 1747 and was completed in 1750.
It was funded personally by Ebubekir Pasha himself, to provide a fresh water source for the city, from a source 10 km away.
Today, around 20 arches remain intact, though the aqueduct was abandoned in 1939.
