Note to self: next time take more notes, more photos

I have backpacked 98 countries, poised to claim my 99th.

In Africa I have backpacked 22 out of 54 countries, overnighted in 116 different villages, towns and cities and numerous overnight trains and busses and even a boat on Lake Malawi, Lake Nassar and on the Nile at Luxor

In Europe: 44 countries, 191 overnight stops, night buses, night trains, night ferries.

In Asia: 27 countries, 254 overnight stops, night buses, airports, boats, mountain huts in Nepal.

In Australasia: 2 countries, 74 overnight stops, so many night buses I can't remember.

In The Americas: 3 countries and counting. 22 overnight stops, night flights, night buses.

That's more than 850 overnight stops; not including the mountain huts in Italy, Austria, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Nepal nor the places where I have stayed in multiple hostels and hotels within the same city.

I have lived and worked 16 seasons as a waiter in Switzerland. Volunteered in Seoul, Mestia and Karakol.

Yes I have documented the hostels: the name, how many nights and the price paid. These notes are in England.

But I was not taking many photos or making copious notes of the places, good or bad for future reviews.

Imagine how big my blog would be with a catalogue of 800+ hostel reviews.

And the places I have visited. Yes, I know where I have been but, the logistics of getting there and away are mostly blown to the wind, the finite details needed to create a blog post, the beers I have drunk, the cafes I have eaten in, mostly not even recorded.

Overnight buses, trains and boats, imagine my blog if I had notes to refer to.

And the border crossings. I have no idea how many borders I have crossed.

Maybe I should dedicate a day and catalogue exactly how many borders I have crossed.

Imagine, that could fill a blog on it's own.
