I was never a big fan of Tanzania. I first backpacked Tanzania back in 2016 as I travelled overland from Cairo to Cape Town.
I had crossed at the Lunga-Lunga crossing south of Mombasa and stopped in Tanga, Dar es Salaam before going to Zanzibar.
I found it very overrated.
I took the train from Dar to Mbeya and then chilled for a few days on the shores of Lake Malawi at Matema.
Tanzania is in my top 5 least favourite countries list. People who say they "Loved Tanzania", only have their luxury stay on Zanzibar or on a very expensive Safari as their view point. Travel across country, go to places like Kigoma and Mpanda. This is Tanzania.
And the National Parks have the highest Mzungu entry fees in Africa.
