Nomadic Backpacker Makes an Emotional Return to Naivasha

For those who are new here, just to fill you all in, I spent 105 days on COVID lockdown in Kenya before taking an EU-organised KLM evac flight out.

I had waited weeks hoping that the pandemic would end quickly, but of course as we all know, it didn’t. I don’t regret taking that flight to Amsterdam.

Fast forward 3 years, and I was back in Kenya, picking up the pieces.

I had secured my Kenya eVisa, went backpacking in Madagascar for 6 weeks and then landed back in Kenya.

After picking up my GRAMS28 126 Passport Wallet at the FedEx depot, I made my way into Nairobi and went straight to the stage and took a matatu to Naivasha.

I headed to the Hotel Kafiko where I secured room for 1400 KSH including breakfast.

My favourite haunt in Naivasha was the African Plate Restaurant.

During the pandemic, I got to know the family who ran the place. Sadly only one of the daughters was still working there. But was good to see a familiar face.

The days passed and finally I went to Guest House Jane, my home during the pandemic.

I made a great video:
