The Wings of Mexico, by Jorge Marín, a Mexican sculptor and painter, became a contemporary art symbol of Mexico.
The first version was located on Paseo de la Reforma in 2010.
The global success of the Wings of Mexico is an exceptional phenomenon that has only occurred a few times in the history of art, when a sculpture goes on a display in a public space and becomes the destination for national and international visitors; this is what happened with Las Alas de México, its success is due to it being a living work that is only completed when people interact with it.
They have now been permanently installed in 13 cities: Los Angeles, Denver, San Antonio, Quebec, Mexico City, San José, Madrid, Berlin, The Hague, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Dubai and Nagoya.
The idea of designing something requiring human interaction was clever.
Basically, this can be selfie-city.
