Travelling on a guagua (minivan) from Samana to Las Galeras in the Dominican Republic

Guaguas to Las Galeras leave from the small Mercado Publico in Samana:

Mine left at 12 noon with just me and 2 other passengers.
We drove slowly through town, the driver shouting Galera-Galera. I didn’t hear the ‘s’.
There weren’t many passengers. We picked up a few here and there.
Arrived in Las Galeras after 1 hour and 10 minutes.
I got out at the junction of the road to my backpacker hostel. No need to go to the end of the road.
The fare was 150 RD$, cash only, of course.
Nomadic Backpacker on the Samana Las Galeras guagua:

The only thing of interest to see and do in Samana is to walk across the Samana Bridge:

Other activities in Samana include whale-watching boat tours. These cost 50 USD per person and include trips to nearby beaches. People I met said they had a good time.
There are plenty of beaches around, but you need to find your own transport or take a very expensive tour.
