How to get an E-Visa for Uganda
Posted: July 30 2023 | Tagged: Uganda
To visit the Republic of Uganda you need to apply for an E-Visa. This is the process for a single-entry tourist visa as of June 2023. The Visa On Arrival is sadly no longer an option.
This is the future of travel. Seems like everyone is going down the E-Visa route and with it, gone is the freedom on overland travel as many want you to upload onward/return tickets and this for most countries, means a flight.
Yes, you can buy fake tickets, and make one up yourself but why should I have to?

Here is the website you need to use to obtain your E Visa for Uganda.
The Uganda E-Visa application form is less long-winded than the one for Kenya.
For the single-entry tourist visa, I needed to upload 4 documents:
1. Photo of Passport
2. Passport size photo
3. Yellow Fever Certificate
4. Return ticket
All photo documents must be less than 250kb.
I stipulated the Busia border crossing from Kenya as the point of entry. I wanted to travel overland into Rwanda. There is no option on the form to say this. And you must upload an onward ticket.
I had a Kenya Airways ticket out of Nairobi. I uploaded that, hoping that it was sufficient. It was.
I applied before 9 am and had the approval email at around 3 pm.
The Visa, as posted at the top of this blog post, as stated clearly in the accompanying email is an 'approval' letter. You must still supply supporting documents at the border.
And unlike Kenya, where you just get a stamp, entering Uganda you get a full page sticker:
