Kurdistan is a fantastic region of the world to go backpacking. I crossed the border from Turkey and took a flight out of Erbil. The people are so kind and hospitable. One of my favourite places!

The top attraction in Soran is the Rwandz (also spelt Rawanduz) Canyon, 7 or 8 km away.
Akre, Kurdistan, is a historical city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 100km from Duhok and dates back to the 7th century BC.
Duhok is a great place for travellers and backpackers for a few days, and makes a nice introduction for those entering from Turkey.
