Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios with the Litegua bus company.
Starting the day in Antigua, I took the Antigua to Guatemala City shuttle, which was actually just a car for me and an American girl, to the Litegua Bus Terminal in Zona 1 in Guatemala City.
I had no desire to backpack Guatemala City. The reports are bad, so I played it safe and booked a shuttle.
I got picked up at 03:50 from the Hospedaje El Viajero, the cheapest hostel in Antigua. I got to the Litegua bus terminal in Guatemala City at 05:05, where I bought a ticket for the 05:00 bus to Puerto Barrios, which was running a bit late.
Antigua to Guatemala City cost me 100Q and Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios 125Q.
The ride took bang on 6 hours. There is WiFi, supposedly, but I couldn’t connect. There is a toilet on board, but no running water. The bus makes just 1 stop once for about 20 minutes for food and free toilets. They handed out 1 small bottle of water.
The aircon can be a bit cold. Take a sweater.
Once in Puerto Barrios, you can walk to the ferry terminal to get the boat to Livingston.
