How to get from Xela to Guatemala City

Trip report (October 31 2024) from my buddy Paul, who travelled from Xela (Quetzaltenango) to Guatemala City using Transportes Alamo.

3 years ago I had backpacked Xela and taken a series of minivans and chicken buses to San Pedro on the shores of Lake Atitlan. I never did get to Guatemala City.
The fare from Xela to Guatemala City on the Alamo bus is 90 Q. The chicken buses which drive like crazy on the highway, are 80 Q. Much better to pay the extra 10 Q.
He bought the ticket in cash at the bus terminal in Xela. They only accept cash. On their website they do have an option to purchase tickets online:
