Update: The Tren Felipe Ángeles from Buenavista to AIFA is now up and running and offers a quicker, safer and more convenient way to reach the AIFA Airport. It opened in 2022 on the former military airfield, Santa Lucía Air Force Base and is 35 km north of Mexico City. So, if you are flying in or out of Mexico City, always check which airport.
Where to catch the bus to AIFA in Mexico City
ETN Turistar buses to the AIFA Felipe Ángeles Airport operate out of the North Bus Station (the same bus station for Teotihuacán).

They run mostly hourly from 5.30 am to 9 pm. Depending on the traffic, the journey is scheduled to take an hour. My bus took 1 hr 20 minutes.
You can buy your ticket online, but I went old-school and bought my ticket, five days in advance, at the bus terminal, 90 pesos. I paid cash, but you can pay by card.
According to the ETN Turistar website, buses to AIFA airport, as of August 2026, start from 90 pesos, with most tickets costing 104.50 pesos.

Verify your airport folks. I’ve heard more than one story of travelers who showed up at the wrong airport. Yikes. Unless they hustle and get lucky it means flying out the following day or later in the day. Good window for catching most flights. Early morning to mid-evening.
Public transportation is about the best – and most reliable – way to reach the airport in most cases. Typically cheap, too.
Even experienced travellers get the airport wrong.. maybe was under the influence… T1 is just a 5-peso metro ride away.. :)) T2 is 30 pesos on a bus… The AIFA airport is a metro, then train or bus… (I have blog posts on all transport here… – which pulls in the punters..)
