If you Google “How to get from Keflavik Airport to the BSÍ Bus Terminal in downtown Reykjavík”, the chances are high that the first 10 options will be for the “Flybus airport transfer”, which is a shuttle that operates between Keflavík Airport and the BSÍ Bus Terminal in downtown Reykjavík.

The journey with Flybus takes about 45 minutes and departure times and are coordinated with the flight arrivals, departing 35 to 45 minutes after every arrival.

From the FlyBus website: “We synchronise with every arriving flight. If your plane is late, we’ll wait”.

Tickets in 2026 will cost you 3,999 ISK for a single and 7,298 ISK for a return.

The advantage is that they service the early morning departures. I need to take one as my flight out of Reykjavik is at 07.30 am, but for an arrival at 3 pm, there is simply no need to take this very expensive option. Iceland is expensive enough; saving every penny where you can is the main objective here.

  1. I note you and the other passengers being all bundled up.

I recall how cold it was on the tarmac last year. We laid over from like 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM right before the solstice. Pitch black until we took off for Glasgow. People were eating hot dogs and drinking beer in the morning; it was funny to me. The temperature was 16 F and gusty as all hell. I wore a T-shirt and sweat pants because being on a toasty flight made me crave the cold; this is how I am.

Iceland looks inspired. We need to experience it sometime.

    • Iceland is an awesome country. the cold is brutal. Winter storms can last for weeks… would love to explore the whole island but money, or the lack of it, is a factor.. the Kex Hostel was a happy place for me.

      • I spied those Keflavik Airport prices; expensive. As expensive as anywhere I have been. Like, way more expensive than food here in California; the priciest state by a mile. We nabbed a candy bar before boarding from the snazzy vending machine; that was it.
