Enjoying a Traditional Kurdish Breakfast at the Jan Coffee in Sulaymaniyah

The Traditional Kurdish Breakfast at the Jan Coffee in Sulaymaniyah certainly hits the spot, setting you up for the day. I came here 3 mornings on the trot, one time taking Shakshuka and twice, this wonderful feast:

Traditional Kurdish Breakfast of scrambled egg, Kaimak, yoghurt, walnuts, honey, cheese, olives, jam, bread, with tea.

Launched in October 2017, Jan Coffee was the first street coffee shop to open in Sulaymaniyah. It managed to become a gathering place for people despite gender and age. Men and women from the city came here to grab something to drink while catching up with friends. Jan was able to change the ideology which women can’t sit comfortably in public places.

So, what does the Traditional Kurdish Breakfast contain? Scrambled egg, Kaimak, yoghurt, walnuts, honey, cheese, olives, jam, bread, with a bottle of water and of course tea.

Good to have a filling breakfast before visiting Amna Suraka, Saddam Hussein’s House of Horrors.
