Best Restaurants in Zipolite

Posted: January 2, 2024

After a hard day blogging or working on your all-over tan, wind up your day in one of these 5 perfect restaurants in Zipolite.

5 Best Restaurants in Zipolite

Sometimes it's not easy to pick a favourite restaurant as places come and go, standards drop, portions reduce in size, and prices go up, but here are my favourite places in Zipolite, tried and tested by Nomadic Backpacker and Miss CDMX, Christmas 2024.

1. Sal y Pimienta

The Sal y Pimienta is by far our favourite restaurant for dinner in Zipolite. With its beach location for awesome sunsets, great choice of seafood, massive portions and affordable prices, we keep returning to the Sal y Pimienta time and time again. It's one of the most popular restaurants in Zipolite, so be prepared to wait to get a table. The Dorado Fish Filet served with chunky chips, rice, and salad is my go-to option when it comes to dining out in Zipolite.

And of course, whatever you order, meals come with an assortment of different spices. With Mexican spices, you are not just talking about food being hot just for the sake of it. Mexican spices are full of flavour. I grew up on bland UK food from the 1970/1980s but got very used to the abundance of flavours of the food here and now, when i am away I miss the spices here, so much that Miss CDMX (now Mrs CDMX - yes we got married) bought me my very own spice gift box to take on my travels.

2. Restaurant Alessandro

The fresh pasta dishes served at the Restaurant Alessandro are amazing and is fast becoming one of the best places to eat in Zipolite. I had the Tallarines 3 Tomates y Ricotta, while Miss CDMX opted for the Miñon Filet. Check out the Caprese Salad, pictured below. You can pay by card without a 5% commission being added!

3. La Fenice

La Fenice is the most popular restaurant to get pizza in Zipolite. They have 42 (@2024) different types of pizzas on the menu and a selection of Calzones. Plenty of cold beers and fresh juices to choose from, too. Sorry, no photos.

4. Comedor AFE Zipolite

If you fancy grilled fish, here is the place to come. Miss CDMX loves the grilled shrimp, I always opt for the Filete de Pescado, served with potatoes, Rice and salad. They have lobster too. Good prices and super friendly staff.

5. Street Food - "Se Vende Tostadas"

You can find some of the best feeds at night markets across the globe. In Zipolite, there is a stall outside the Hotel Cabanas El Paraiso selling awesome tostadas with amazing toppings: Tinge de pollo, Picadillo de res, Escabeche de Pescado, Tinga de res and Ensalada Rusa. It's a very popular option.
