Crossing the Switzerland – Liechtenstein border, Buchs to Schaan-Vaduz.

This border crossing report is part of a much longer day, which involved flying from Reykjavik to Zurich, then taking two trains to Buchs SG, from where I walked across the border, Switzerland to Liechtenstein over the River Rhine. Epic travels.
Buchs Bahnhof:


It’s Impossible to get lost in Switzerland; there are signs everywhere.


There are no immigration offices, and you get no passport stamps. But there was a pillbox on the Swiss side:

I was only in transit. Switzerland lasted about three hours. I had taken the train from the airport to Zurich Main Station and then another to Buchs:


Welcome to Liechtenstein. A great way to enter my 108th UN Member State or 115th Country and Territory that I personally recognise.
Yes, it was my first time in Liechtenstein, despite having worked 16 seasons in neighbouring Switzerland as a waiter from 2001 to 2018 and probably six other times too.
A bit like Gibraltar. I had been to the south of Spain three times before I finally went to Gibraltar.



Entering Schaan:

Textbook backpacking: Arriving at the Schaan-Vaduz Station, having walked the 2.5 km from Buchs Station.


The first afternoon/evening was a washout, so I just hung out at the YHA.
