Here, I detail how to avoid paying 50 USD to get from the “Bahias De Huatulco” International Airport to the nudist beach in Zipolite.

We flew Volaris from Mexico City Airport to Huatulco for our Christmas break in Zipolite and the only official nudist beach in Mexico, Playa Zipolite:

You need to do the trip in two stages:
- Huatulco Airport to Pochutla
- Pochutla to Zipolite
I have already written about how to get from Zipolite to Huatulco Airport in a separate post; this is the journey in the reverse direction with a slight variation to the details in that post, so it’s absolutely worth writing this one.

Huatulco Aiport to Pochutla
Ignore the airport transfers and taxi drivers at the airport and head to the main road that runs past the airport and just wait on the junction for a “Rapidos de Pochutla” colectivo, coming from the left:

The ride costs 40 pesos per person in these transit vans (as of December 2025). The journey takes as long as it does. It depends on the amount of traffic, but in normal circumstances, it takes approximately 40 minutes. They are digging the road up as of December 2025, and the ride took 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Pochutla to Zipolite
You can get a pickup colectivo from outside the Hotel Alebrijes on Calle Las Palmas in Pochutla:

The journey takes you via Mazunte, with the last stop being a small parking lot in Zipolite:
The ride takes about 1 hour and costs 35 pesos (December 2025):
Then you can wall the distance to Zipolite, which is little more than 15 minutes.
That’s how to pay just 75 pesos instead of around 1000 pesos. Travel doesn’t have to cost the earth. You just have to know how to do it.
Money saved on transport can be spent on enjoying a breakfast at one of the many cafes in Zipolite:
