Taking the bus from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana.

I was up and packed pre-breakfast. A coffee at Casa Pocos was breakfast.
“Expreso Punta Cana” runs buses from the bus terminal near Parque Enriquillo, just north of the Colonial Centre.

It took me 20 minutes to walk there.
I’d already checked it out the previous week, and I knew that buses departed pretty regularly to Punta Cana, so there was no pre-booking this time. I just turned up and bought my ticket à la minute:

I bought a ticket for the next bus, which was leaving at 9:20 am. The ticket price was 500 pesos.

Santo Domingo to Punta Cana bus:

The bus was fine. The air conditioning was good, but there was no Wi-Fi, despite that being one of the selling points. So I raw dogged my bus. Ha, there is not even a photo of me doing ‘nothing’.
The highway was smooth. The bus ran fast.
I was tracking the progress on Google Maps. We made a stop at the Punta Cana Airport, then Veron, heading towards Bavaro.
The bus went on the road, going past the Art Hostel, the only backpacker option in Punta Cana.
I was happy, because the Punta Cana Express Terminal was on the highway, 5 km from the hostel, and I was expecting to have to organise more transport or walk.
So everything turned out well!
The distance from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana is 200 km +/-. 3 hrs 30. 500 pesos. Easy.
As an additional note, no trains are operating between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, or indeed, anywhere else in the Dominican Republic.
