Travelers’ Century Club: Countries & Territories Visited

The TCC – Travelers’ Century Club, as of January 2022, recognises, states, lists, and declares that there are 330 Countries and Territories across the planet.

Read: Travelers Century Club.

I like the Travelers’ Century Club list because it includes principalities, de facto states, autonomous regions, non-recognised states and partially recognised states.

The Travelers’ Century Club includes Hong Kong:

I like the fact that the Travelers’ Century Club includes Taiwan:

They include Kosovo, Transnistria, Western Sahara, Palestine, and Abkhazia, all of which I have visited. All of which I have backpacked.

But they don’t include Nagorno-Karabakh. I first went there in 2010 on an 18-hour day trip from Yerevan. I also backpacked Nagorno-Karabakh in 2015, including visiting the Ghost City of Agdam. Nagorno-Karabakh ceased to exist in 2024.

Entering the Country that no longer exists:

I have 2 visas for Nagorno-Karabakh, but they don’t include it yet they include both Alaska and Tasmania, which don’t require different visas for you to visit, they don’t have their own currency or license plates.

They count Ceuta and Melilla (2 Spanish Enclaves in Morocco) as one.

They list the Greek Aegean Islands as being separate from Greece. So what about the island groups in the Philippines?

They list Sumatra separately, Java too, but what about Flores?

Russia in Europe, Russia in Asia. Egypt in Africa, Egypt in Asia. Turkey in Europe, Turkey in Asia. Really?

They also list the British Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia as one. And I have backpacked both of them:

They don’t list Kurdistan as a separate entity, despite having its own visa:

How to become a member of the Travelers Century Club:

According to the Travelers’ Century Club, anyone who has stepped foot in at least 100 countries and territories can become a member. Transiting through airports does not count! They encourage the traveller to stay longer but seem to accept those who haven’t done anything significant, like drinking a beer or coffee, visiting a museum, or even seeing anything. They turned it into a nonsensical quest.

And this is why I will never join the elite Travelers’ Century Club even if I am eligible.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE are 3 of the 330 Countries and Territories recognised by the Travelers’ Century Club. I spent 5 days in the UAE back in 2016. I landed in Abu Dhabi, took a bus to Dubai, backpacked the Burj Khalifa, then took a bus to Ras Al Khaimah:
