How To Get Madagascar Visa on Arrival at Ivato International Airport
June 15, 2023 | Tagged: Madagascar
This is a Madagascar Visa On Arrival trip report, correct as June 2023 for a British passport holder.
The Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi didn't have any immigration cards so on stepping into the Ivato International Airport I immediately asked for one.
I queued up at the VISA desk.
Madagascar still issues the Visa On Arrival.
The fees as in 2023:
Visa 15 Days: 10 € / 10 USD
Visa 30 Days: 35 € / 37 USD
Visa 60 Days: 40 € / 45 USD.
The maximum number of days given at the airport is 60 days!
I had my 40€ ready and handed it over with my passport. It is processed tout de suite.
You are given a fiche (sorry I don't have a photo), then you queue up at the immigration desk.
I handed everything over including the immigration forms. You need to write down a hotel name, address, phone number and email address. I just used a random hotel in town and made up the email address.
You get a small visa sticker in your passport, and then you go to another desk and have it stamped. So easy!
Then in the Arrivals Hall, you can change your Euros, Pounds or Dollars. Or use one of two ATMS, the MCB Madagascar ATM has free withdrawals, the SOCIETE GENERALE is not free.
Or walk out of the airport and use the money changer there to get a slightly better rate.
I wrote a separate post detailing all you need to know about how to get cash at the Ivato International Airport.
