United Nations Member States That I Have Visited
Posted: November 15 2023
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 Member States. And as of November 2023, I have visited, backpacked and spent at least 24 hours in, 106 of them.
106 Not Out!
106 Not Out!
Backpacking in Zambia:
I fear that this is the list that most travellers who are chasing countries refer to.
Many are Chasing193 to say that they have visited EveryCountryInTheWorld based on the UN list.
Some are Chasing195 which includes 2 non-member observer states, Palestine and Vatican City or The Holy See, which I do not and never will recognise, not even partially.
Some are Chasing197 which includes Taiwan and Kosovo who only have partial recognition.
But those who are Chasing 193 Countries are badly informed. They are not Countries. They are Member States.
Just for starters:
The United Kingdom is comprised of 4 Countries, England, Scotland, and Wales which form Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and collectively these 4 form The United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland.
And just because it's the most popular list, it doesn't mean that Nomadic Backpacker follows such a list. I prefer to blaze my own trail.
Backpacking in Singapore in 2011:
