Backpacking in the United Kingdom Index
Backpacking Adventure Stories from The United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom (UK) is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and many islands which are part of the UK, a list of which can be found on the Wikipedia page
Great Britain is comprised of just England, Scotland and Wales that's why my passport says UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND.
The British Isles consists of two main islands, Great Britain and Ireland with numerous smaller islands and island groups, including the Hebrides, the Shetland Islands, the Orkney Islands, the Isles of Scilly, and the Isle of Man.
There are 3 Crown Dependencies: the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Isle of Man. They are not part of the United Kingdom.
There are even 14 British Overseas Territories: Anguilla, Ascension, Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St Helena, Tristan da Cunha, Turks and Caicos Islands. They are not part of the United Kingdom and are self-governing.
Only the United Kingdom and Ireland are UN listed.
So here are my posts from the United Kingdom. Yup, there are not very many as I am too consumed with seeing more interesting parts of the world though that's not to say that there are not great places to see with the UK.
