My First Visit to Northern Ireland
May 7, 2023 | Tagged: United Kingdom
Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. It is not part of Great Britain. The capital is Belfast and not Dublin; that's in the Republic of Ireland. And they do not use the Euro. That's also only in the Republic of Ireland.
And this my first time here.
And this my first time here.
By default I went to England when I was 0. I went to Wales at 18, Scotland at 22 and Northern Ireland at 55. Really? Yes really.
Why has it taken me so long to come here? A good question but this is not the point here.
In coming to Northern Ireland I have now completed the quadruple of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
I have now updated or revised even, my UN Member States list.
I now include the United Kingdom in this list.
For all these years, I never included the UK on my list.
Why not?
I felt my travel in the United Kingdom was incomplete. Northern Ireland was missing, until now. March 5, Cinco de Mayo, the day I arrived in Northern Ireland having crossed the border from Scotland on a Stena Line ferry.
So now my UN Member States LIST, sits happily at 99 and my Countries and Territories Visited list sits at 106.
