Ritual de Armonización de Energía Mexica

Posted: April 7 2021 | Tagged: Mexico, Mexico City

Whilst Backpacking Mexico City, out of pure curiosity, I subject myself to the ancient Ritual de Armonización de Energía practised by the Mexica, who were a Nahuatl-speaking indigenous people of the Valley of Mexico who were the rulers of the Aztec Empire.

The ritual begins with the sounding of the drum (Teponaztli) and the big snail shell (Atecocolli). This helps relax the consciousness and harmonise vibes.

Then, bad energy is swept away by a bouquet of 'pirúl', and then balm is applied to protect and repel bad energies.

The smoking ritual (ritual de sahumar) is a very ancient and sacred ritual that allows stagnant energy to circulate. Ancient cultures were deeply aware that nature offers everything that human beings need to heal the physical body and soul. Medicinal plants are an essential part of the wisdom of the earth, and they give you the possibility of transforming the vibration of space to heal the body and balance your energy.

The incense (sahumador) used in this ritual is called “popochcomitl” in Nahuatl, which carries the fire and is a representation of the internal Fire of Mother Earth, the heart. The column of white smoke that ascends manifests evolution and change. The copal is the mediator between matter and spirit, between the living and the dead; it is the link between the human and the energy and carries the prayers/requests. Therefore, the use of copal is the means to clean, harmonise, purify and raise the vibration of the person.

Thus, with the help of the four elements of nature (fire, air, earth and water), this harmonisation renews the energy fields of the physical, emotional and mental body.

Thus, with my energy harmonised , I felt more prepared for the rest of my travels in Latin America.
