Why the Covid-19 Vaccine given in Mexico is not accepted by the UK
The vaccine given here in Mexico is still not accepted by the UK. Those who have received the Covid-19 vaccination in Mexico are classed as 'unvaccinated'. You can check this on the UK's government site. But why?
The application form for the Covid-19 vaccination in Mexico does not have a separate box where the applicant enters his or her Date Of Birth. It's as simple as that (according to the WHO).
I checked the application form:

I checked the application form:
You only have to enter your age (under the Dosis, Primera-Segunda on the right side) not your Date Of Birth.
All Mexican citizens and residents have what is known as a CURP number. Clave Única de Registro de Población. It is used in exactly the same way as the UK's National Insurance number.
And get this: The CURP number is made up of 18 letters and numbers and within it, is one's Date Of Birth, just like in the driving licence used in the UK.
I mentioned this to the UK ambassador at the embassy here in Mexico. The reply was a poor excuse for an answer, "We can't expect our immigration officials to know what a CURP is - there are dozens of different types of national identity numbers around the world".

All Mexicans are issued with a CURP number, just like we get the NI number in the UK.
Foreigners who live here and have residency can also get one.
But as a traveller who is just here on a tourist visa, for the Covid-19 vaccination, you can only get a provisional CURP number but one's Date Of Birth is not included within the 18 character CURP number. Hell, with only the provisional CURP number, you can't even get a QR code as electronic proof of having been vaccinated.
The QR code is redirected to a government page and shows that the holder has had both AstraZeneca vaccinations and clearly shows the CURP number complete with Date Of Birth.
Another reality of being a long term traveller, of no fixed abode. The absurdity of our world.
Being 'unvaccinated', one still needs to book and pay for a test of days 2 and 8 and isolate for 8 days. You need an address for the locator app, just in case the authorities wanna make a surprise call. Of course, they never do, but they could and if you are not at home, you'll be in a big pile of shit.
And as a traveller who has spent most of the last 29 years away, 'friends' who could put me up for 8 days are non-existent. The family can't help either.
So this would mean staying in an expensive hotel for the duration and somehow organising food to be delivered.
All because of the lack of a separate box for one's Date Of Birth on the application form.
Here I am getting my 1st and 2nd shots of AstraZeneca:
