Corona Diaries - Day 53 - A little ray of hope

There hasn't been much to be happy about recently. I'm into my 8th week of being stuck in Naivasha. The lockdown was extended by 3 more weeks. The Kenyan news feed is all doom and gloom. I have since stopped looking. It's not helping my sanity which is at it's lowest since this Covid-19 pandemic began. A few days ago, another staff member was laid off.

Naivasha relies on tourism and the production of commercial flowers. There are around 60 flower firms here, so when they all close, you can imagine the impact it has.
Together with the fact that most, if not all hotels in town and around the lake have shut up shop as there are no tourists, international or domestic, life becomes tough. This is Kenya. No jobs = no money = no food on the table.
So the re-opening of the flower farms is very good news. I am happy for the people.
It gives everyone hope including me!
