The most memorable piece of travel advice I was given

I have never forgotten this piece of travel advice. 15 years before bucket lists were a thing, I made a #bucket list (Real story from a café in Santorini, Greece way back in 2002).
Santorini, 2002.
After my 1st season as a waiter in Grindelwald finished, I flew to Athens and after a while, I surfaced on Santorini.
The exact details are kinda hazy but I had taken the boat from Crete and was whisked across the island to a beach with black sand and about 8 of us shared a room. And then, somehow I ended up on the nicer side of the island.
I remember going to a café one evening. I took a small carafe of the house red.
Some British guys were hanging out. They lived on their yachts. The dream you would think.
But they were as disillusioned with their luxury lot in life as the next person with all the trappings of a materialistic world; you know the one where we are lead to believe that this is the one we should dream of living in.
Their advice was simply to get a little tipsy on the cheap Greek plonk and make a list of all the things you want to do in life. Simple. Alcohol loosens the thought train not just tongues.
