How to get from CDMX to Teotihuacán by Bus
Getting to the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE of Teotihuacán by public transportation is very easy, not to mention cheap. Here's how I got there amid the Coronavirus pandemic in December 2020.
Buses depart regularly from the Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte. Across from the bus station is the "Autobuses del Norte" metro station which is on LINE 5.
I visited Teotihuacán on a Saturday. The site opens at 9 am and I wanted to make full use of the day, and I was not keen to ride the metro in rush hour on a weekday. Sunday is free entry to Mexicans so to avoid the 'rush', I chose to go on a Saturday.
I rode Linea #1 from Pino Suárez to Balderas, 3 stops, switched to Linea #3 to La Raza, 5 stops, and a final switch to Linea 5, 1 stop to Autobuses del Norte. Total travel time on the Metro: 28 minutes. Man, this Mexico City metro. Very efficient!
I have since written a detailed guide about all forms of public transportation in CDMX which I am sure you will find helpful.

But first, time for some breakfast:
Tickets to Teotihuacán are sold near Salla 8 by Autobuses Teotihuacán. One way fare is 52MXN. Return fare 104MXN.
Check how ticket has the vehicle number on it.
Journey time was 1 hr. Not sure how it is quoted as 45 minutes on other travel blogs. And before you ask, No, there was zero traffic on a Saturday morning.
Did they even ride the bus? Maybe they just go to the bus station for the photo and copy the details from another blog?
Arrival point is at Gate 1 where you buy your ticket. 80MXN @ December 2020. Opening times now only 09:00 to 15:00.

Coming back, I waited for the bus outside Gate 2. Paid the driver directly as I had bought a one-way ticket in the morning. It takes a different route back, passing through the town of Teotihuacán (slow going). I jumped off at Indios Verdes, the end station for Linea #3 on the metro.
This was going to be a full on blog post about Teotihuacán but I didn't get 1 half decent photo. This might require a revisit, sometime.
