Visiting The Cart & Horses Pub in Stratford, East London, which is known as The Birthplace of Iron Maiden.

Who are Iron Maiden:
Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band formed by Steve Harris in December 1975. The band’s original line-up was with Paul Mario Day on vocals, Terry Rance and Dave Sulivan played guitar and Ron Matthews was on drums. Steve Harris played bass. They changed band members a few times before settling on Steve Harris, vocalist Paul Di’Anno, guitarist Dave Murray and drummer Doug Sampson.
DiAnno was fired in 1981 after the Killers Tour. Bruce Dickinson came in as his replacement. Killers was a great album, perhaps their best. I had it on cassette back in the day, but they achieved prominence with their 3rd studio album, The Number of the Beast (I had this on vinyl), which became the band’s first number 1 record on the UK Albums Chart, with two outstanding tracks, the Number of The Beast and Run To The Hills, which reached No. #7 in the UK single charts.
And it was at the Cart & Horses pub where they played their first gigs here back in the 70s.

The Cart & Horses Pub
My first visit to the Cart & Horses was back in March 2023. I drank a bottle of Trooper 666 (The track, Trooper, was inspired by the Charge of the Light Brigade, which took place at the Battle of Balaclava in 1854 during the Crimean War).
And recent research shows that 666, not 600, British Cavalrymen charged the Russian forces. 666 The Number of the Beast.
It is said that when Bernard Hinault, the French cyclist from the late 70s and 80s, wanted to win, he wrote in black marker on his forehead the number 666.
It is perhaps a human number…
Trooper 666 is a 6.6%vol limited edition dark beer:

I followed up with a 4.7% lager “Trooper”:

I went back again in April 2024, seen here chatting with the owner:

If I’d booked a hotel in town I would have drank a few more Trooper 666 beers.
Flashbacks to my teenage years when I had long hair and wore a denim jacket.
So before I got too pissed to make it back, I added the Cart & Horses to my list of places I must take Miss CDMX.
