For that late flight at Antananarivo Ivato Airport, Madagascar, a perfect option is to take a room at the Hôtel Restaurant Manoir Rouge.
It's a popular spot so try to email ([email protected]) them to avoid being disappointed.

I'd already checked it out on my first full day here in Madagascar, 6 weeks ago. It looked ideal.
They also arrange transfers to the airport for 15,000Ar. Yes, I know it's not far, just 1km but it is not recommended to be out walking in the middle of the night, even after dark at 6 pm is a big no-no.
And I don't need to be playing the hero.
Just take a ride.

My flight to Nairobi was leaving at 02:30 so the Manoir Rouge worked very well for me.
After checking out of the El Mundo Hotel in downtown Antananarivo, I took the Taxi-Brousse to Ivato and went directly to the Manoir Rouge Hotel.
It was noon. I got myself a room. I took a double as the singles were fully booked.
I had some unexpected work on Nomadic Backpacker to get done which I did over a large THB beer, and once finished, I ordered a plate of couscous.
In the afternoon I relaxed. Playing back in my mind the last 6 weeks, in particular the trip to the Lemurs Park, the off-the-beaten-track adventure down the east coast from Tamatave to Manakara especially the 2 days I spent on the Canal des Pangalanes and of course the trip to the Avenue des Baobabs on the east coast.
Madagascar is a tough country. It's one of the poorest countries in the world. But the people are always ready with a smile and I was pleasantly amazed by the quality of the hotel rooms here. Single/double rooms with bathroom, hot water, and WiFi for just 10€ a night.
And what's not to like about a large cold THB beer for less than 1€?
