How to get Mali Visa in Dakar

Posted: February 10, 2020 | Tagged Mali

How to get a Mali visa in Dakar, Senegal for a British passport holder. Details correct at February 2020.
Mali visa, Dakar, Senegal
This is the first visa I've needed in advance since probably the Kenyan one in Addis back in 2016.

I was anxious because of all the possible questions and all the documents that could have been requested, but man, this was one easy visa.

The embassy opens at 9 am. I got there at 9.10 am.

Requirements for getting a Mali visa in Dakar:

  • 2 photos
  • 1 copy of passport
  • 25,000 XOF

Important info needed for visa application:

Entry point: in my case, Kidira
Hotel name in Mali: Sleeping Camel Hostel

The lady who deals with the application form speaks English and can assist in filling in the blanks if your French sucks, as mine does, mostly.

Very friendly atmosphere at the embassy.

I paid my fee and was told to come back at 2 pm. Success!

The bus ride there and back and killing time until 2 pm in 30-degree heat was harder. ;))
