ATM Withdrawal Fees in Iceland
There is (almost) no reason to use cash in Iceland but just in case you want to, here are the fees at 2 ATMs in Iceland.
Iceland is (almost) a cashless society.
For better or worse, this is the way it is.
Cash is of course still obtainable and usable but no one uses it.
I saw only 1 instance where cash could come in handy:
The Kex Hostel still accepts cash, at the bar for breakfast or your daily beer, unlike some hostels in the UK which have gone totally card only.
But if you want to do laundry for example, you need to pay with card. #Contactless.
For my Golden Circle Tour and trip to the Sky Lagoon, I paid online on both occasions.
It's quite different here. There are a few banks in Iceland but I saw just one: Islandsbanki, from the bus window. It is not like in Mexico where there is a bank on virtually every corner.
And there are not many ATMs either. ATMs are called Hrađbanki.
On my walks around the city I saw many ATMs owned and operated by EuroNet (image at the top of this post). These are known to have high fees, so I didn't even bother check the fees but I saw a Landsbankinn ATM at the BSI Bus Terminal and a Arion ATM on one of the tourist/shopping streets in the centre.

- Local buses accept cash (exact change only) or you need the app and then you need Wi-Fi. They don't accept card payment for some reason

Landsbankinn ATM Fees
I checked the Landsbankinn ATM at the BSI Bus Terminal. Unsure if the fee was a flat fee or a percentage, I tested tapping in 15,000 ISK and 10,000 ISK. The fee was shown as 300 ISK for both attempts. This is about 2€.
Arion Bank ATM Fees
The ATM withdrawal fee at the Arion Bank is 605 ISK. This is about 4€.
