Visiting the Iglesia El Rosario in San Salvador
The Iglesia el Rosario, located in front of Parque Libertad in the historical centre of San Salvador.
The church as it stands today was built in 1971 and was designed by sculptor Ruben Martinez.
From the outside, it looks just like a concrete bunker. On seeing it for the first time back in February, never could I imagine that it would be a church with a very impressive interior.

So on my last day in San Salvador, I went downtown with one goal. To get inside the Iglesia el rosario San Salvador. On previous visits, I was under the impression it was closed. Many things are. From the front, it certainly looks that way.
The entrance is down the street to the right.
Actually, there are visiting hours:
Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 12:15 pm and 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 11:00 am
Sunday: ordinarily closed during mass
And that a donation is required.
Mass was just finishing and on hearing that it was my last day here, the lady let me in.
The interior is striking, to say the least. Sunlight filters in through the coloured glass. Quite amazing.

Hard to believe that this concrete bunker is a church with a beautiful interior:
