My last COVID-19 lockdown in Kenya post
July 07 2020
July 6 President Kenyatta lifts the cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi Metropolitan Area. The 9pm until 4am curfew gets extend for another 30 days. JKIA to reopen to international flights on August 1.
The lifting of the lockdown (cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi) and the extension of the curfew was what I was expecting. Regarding the airport, this has surprised me.
Of course, there are loads of "if it gets worse, we'll impose lockdown" caveats.

I am not here to post my personal opinion on what will now happen. It stands to reason that cases will go up. I am happy for the Kenyans that life can get back to normal but of course, there will be restriction and these will be floatted to the max. Insufficient and a badly paid police force will see to that.
And as I write this from Beograd | Serbia, I look back in hindsight, and ask myself, should I have stayed on?
I could have explored more of Kenya. The risk of getting infected and ending up in a Kenyan hospital would increase 10 fold. And there is no telling if the lockdown will start up again.
August 1st, the dates set for flights to resume? I'll believe it once it happens!
Compare all this to the situation here in Serbia: I have more freedom here, a better frame of mind, but bizarrely I am actually now 'stuck' in Serbia. The only land border option out of here just disappeared. The border to North Macedonia just got closed down on the night of July 5 (this is the news on the ground. A traveller bailing out of Pristina, got into North Macedonia and out to Serbia hours before being told the border was going to be shut).
According to the FCO GOV UK, all other land borders are either closed, require COVID-19 test and/or quarantine. Though info gleaned from other sources report that certain borders are open.
Who to believe? Go to the bus station and ask.
