Suchitoto is one of the best-preserved colonial towns in the country, with cute cobbled streets, colourful buildings, an artificial lake, a basalt waterfall and the central square with the striking Iglesia Santa Lucía dating from 1859.

The Santa Lucia church right next to the Central Park:
I headed down to Lake Suchitlán, a 40km long, man-made reservoir. Awesome views guaranteed!
The idea here was to take a boat across the lake to San Francisco Lempa:

On the way back, sit down at the lake and enjoy some beers!

I walked out to the Cascada Los Tercios. In the dry season there is no water but it is an easy scramble down, admiring the basalt rock formations:
And there are 2 view points, 'miradores':
