Birthday Dinner at MOG in Mexico City
A few days after visiting Tepito, Mexico City's most dangerous neighbourhood, I celebrated my 53rd birthday with a very nice dinner at MOG as ever with Miss CDMX
Birthday breakfast fit for an ageing backpacker: Omelette with Oaxaca Cheese, avocado and tomato on the side, green power juice, Twinings English Breakfast tea and yummi cake:
Last week, here in Mexico City, I celebrated my 53rd birthday. Yes, I am fully aware of the Covid pandemic. Here in Mexico, life is allowed to continue but you gotta behave yourself and respect the rules.
Restaurants and bars remain open but it's all outside dining. Hand gel is given and your temperature is taken. The menu is viewed by taking a photo of the QR code on your smart phone. and the tables are separated with plastic.
We went to the Mog Bistro, an Asian restaurant on Calle Frontera:

I had the 'Sopa de Hongos' with setas, carrots and onion for starters and 'Teppan Tofu', fried tofu topped with onion, bamboo shoots and mushrooms for my main course with some steamed rice as an extra. Yes I am back to being a vegetarian.
Miss CDMX took 'Buta Aspara', asparagus wrapped in bacon and some 'Edamame Preparado' peas coated with soya sauce and 'Tori Nuts', chicken with bamboo shoots, carrots, onion and cashew nuts and 'Yakimeshi' rice for main course.
We just drank Cola with the meal as we had polished off quite a lot of beer during the afternoon but back home we got through a bottle of well-chilled 'Concha Y Toro Reservado Sauvignon 750'
