Top 3 Favourite Countries of Danny Grainger from Danny Explores
December 23, 2021 | Tagged: Top 3 Favourite Countries
Introducing Danny Grainger, a 20-something-year-old, English adventure traveller and blogger.
This series features top travellers such as Jonny Blair of Don't Stop Living, Ric Gazarian of Global Gaz and Peter Steyn of GlobeRovers, so if you are a traveller and blogger with a story to tell and would like to be featured, drop me a line.
Requirements are pretty straightforward. An intro with a selfie photo and a short but detailed account of why your chosen 3 countries stand out and 1 or 2 photos per country preferably in landscape mode.
I don't have deadlines, or word count restrictions, just make it interesting. The more wacky the better.

Here Danny talks about his top 3 favourite countries:
1. Iceland
I visited Iceland back in 2018 on a short 5-day self-drive trip.
Iceland was my first real ‘adventure’. I had a rough itinerary in place for the 5 days we spent there but we also stumbled across some of the most amazing ‘off the beaten track’ locations. If you’re a sucker for waterfalls like myself, then Iceland should be on your bucket list.
The rumours are true, it really is one of the most naturally beautiful countries in the world. I would love to go back and spend some more time in Iceland especially in the Northern areas which we didn’t have time to visit.
Iceland will always hold a special place in my heart.

2. Portugal
Good food. Good Beer. Stunning coastlines. My favourite time in Portugal has been spent in the Algarve, somewhere I find myself being drawn back to time and time again.
The Algarve is home to Portugal’s best beaches and some very beautiful old fishing villages many of which have now been modernised to cope with tourists. I do love it when you find the narrow streets and small towns that are still home to locals though.
As an adventure seeker, it was the perfect place for me to try paddleboarding for the first time and check out one of Portugal’s most photographed locations, the Benagil cave!

3. United Kingdom
A lot of people tend to take their home country for granted, exploring just the local spots they grew up around and rarely venturing further afield.
I have a real belief in making the most of the country you live in and exploring your backyard. For me, it’s all about taking a walk in the woods a mile from your house and then a few weeks later going waterfall hunting in Devon!
The UK is full of beautiful lakes, mountains and forests. It’s a shame that until recently a lot of the British population didn’t see their own country as an option when planning travel! ( Author's Note: I agree whole heartedly with this. The UK has some wonderful spots, The Brecon Beacons, The Lake District, the Antrim Coast)
