Top 3 Favourite Countries: Neil, my buddy from Glasgow, Scotland
Posted: December 13, 2022 | Tagged: Top 3 Favourite Countries
Glad to be finally featuring the Top 3 Favourite Countries of my buddy Neil from Glasgow, Scotland. This one is personal as we met at the 1322 Hostel in Pretoria whilst travelling through South Africa back in 2016.
Together we watched a few games of the Euro 2016 and enjoyed dining at the Ocean Basket (fish restaurant) and then washing it down with cheap beer at the Illinois Spur Steak Ranch whilst putting the world to rights.

Hi, I'm Neildo, aka The Great White Cark while travelling. From Glasgow, Scotland, funded years of travel by pretending to be a bond analyst at JP Morgan and Citi. Visited exactly 100 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America (plus Australia). Retired now and plotting my next move.
1. India
India isn't just another country, it's another planet! A full-scale assault on the senses from the word go.
My tuk-tuk driver on the way from the airport to central Delhi turned around and asked me, while stopped at traffic lights if I had any pornography with me and if so could he have it.
From there to the burning bodies atop piles of wood by the Ganges. "Drinking Saddhus" fighting in temples. And trekking right into the middle of a full-scale infantry exercise near the Chinese border. Nothing was ever as it would be anywhere else in the world.

2. Namibia
Namibia is like travelling in a dream.
Astonishing landscapes on an epic scale. Almost constant sunshine. First-world food, drink and accommodation at practically third-world prices. Friendly, outgoing, generous people. Beautiful women. Always get a lift straight away when hitchhiking.
And completely safe, incredible given the dystopian nightmare unfolding beyond its southern border.
But best of all? No matter how drunk you end up, you never seem to get a hangover!

3. Peru
Peru ticks every single travel box.
Endless beaches. 6000m mountains. Beautiful colonial towns and cities like Lima, Ayacucho and Arequipa. Inca marvels like Cuzco and the Sacred Valley are everywhere you look. Endless trekking opportunities.
Cheap, efficient and comprehensive bus network that goes EVERYWHERE, geography be damned.
Great beer. Shamans with potions by remote northern lakes for those seeking a spiritual high. And if you like to party.....

Neil does not have an online presence. For years he has communicated with just email. A true Old School Traveller. And never travelled with a camera so, yeah, not many photos, just a few here and there, taken by mates.
